Hexham First School works in partnership with other local schools to deliver a high-quality history curriculum.

During the Summer term of 2022, Hexham First School joined a partnership of other local schools to create a high-quality and ambitious history curriculum that prepares children ready for their next stage of education.

Expert led curriculum development has supported the partnership schools to create a carefully sequenced long term history plan.

Over several months in 2025 KS2 took part in a fantastic history project organised by Digital Voice for communities. They delved into the past, collecting memories and unheard stories of life in Hexham East over the years. They carefully looked through archives. old photos and artefacts to discover what life was like in the East end of Hexham. They perfected their interview skills and intervi3ed former pupils and local residents who shared their memories of Hexham East. The children learnt how to edit, The amazing Alison and John from Digital Voice for Communities carefully choreographed the project into a film to be shared that brings the history to life.
