Our School Vision
Â
At Hexham First school we provide a nurturing and challenging environment that is built on mutual respect. A place where children are encouraged to be curious, resilient and ambitious, whilst developing a love of learning based on independence, creativity and teamwork. Our vision and values are at the heart of everything we do so that our children are happy, inspired and excited to make a difference to their lives and those around them. The children are encouraged to follow ‘The Hexham Way’, our core values of Kindness, Respect, Ambition, Resilience and Independence.

Our British Values
As a school we actively promote the fundamental British values of:
At Hexham First School these values are reinforced through our school values, the Hexham Way, through our assemblies, the PSHE curriculum and the No Outsiders program.
We celebrate Local, National and Global Celebrations and support  events such as Remembrance Day, the Olympics, St George’s Day, Black History month, Pride month, Children in Need, Diwali and Chinese New Year. We love engaging with the community through intergenerational projects such as singing in our local care homes. In 2026 we are excited about our planned partnership with Chrysalis where are children will take part in art based project with people diagnosed with dementia.
We have excellent relationships with our local churches which enhances opportunities including an Christmas service at Hexham Abbey and an Easter service at Hexham Trinity. We hold regular ‘open the book’ assemblies in school with stories from the bible performed by the local clergy.
