Vision and Values

Our School Vision

At Hexham First school we provide a nurturing and challenging environment that is built on mutual respect. A place where children are encouraged to be curious, resilient and ambitious, whilst developing a love of learning based on independence, creativity and teamwork. Our vision and values are at the heart of everything we do so that our children are happy, inspired and excited to make a difference to their lives and those around them. The children are encouraged to follow ‘The Hexham Way’, our seven core values of Kindness, Respect, Ambition, Resilience,Curiosity, Confidence and being Unique.

Our  School Motto

Happy, healthy and aiming high.

Our School Values

At Hexham First School we promote our core values which underpin how we learn in school. We believe in Kindness, Respect, Ambition, Resilience, Curiosity, Confidence and being Unique.

Our British Values

As a school we actively promote the fundamental British values of:

  • Democracy
  • The rule of law
  • Individual liberty
  • Mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs

At Hexham First School these values are reinforced through our school values, the Hexham Way, through our assemblies and the PSHE curriculum.

We celebrate Local, National and Global Celebrations and support  events such as Remembrance Day, the Olympics, St George’s Day, Black History month, Pride month, Children in Need,  Diwali and Chinese New Year.

We have excellent relationships with our local churches which enhances opportunities including an Christmas service at Hexham Abbey and an Easter service at Hexham Trinity. We hold an ‘open the book’ assembly every week in school with stories from the bible performed by the local clergy.
